The U.S. government has convinced Australia to restrain Huawei from supplying 5G gear in the country but the Chinese tech giant has already started to get back into the market with the 6G standard.
According to a report from Sydney Morning Herald, Huawei is looking to discuss with the Australian government to collaborate on 6G research and development and avoid any misunderstanding between the two parties.
The conversation we now want to have with the Australian government is what do we do when 6G or 7G [Ed note: Uh?] comes, because like it or not Huawei or another Chinese company will be the leader in this area.” Jeremy Mitchell, Director of Corporate Affairs of Huawei Australia.
Mitchell said this collaboration will ensure that Australia has the best technology and to give security agencies confidence in terms of using the network equipment made by Huawei.
“6G is just at the very beginning of research development but it’s important to get in now to understand where this technology is going,” he added.
Currently, the rollout of 5G is a far dream in many countries, and the launch of 6G will around 10 years to come into effect. Back in 2019, Huawei Consumer Business CEO, Richard Yu told that Huawei has started R&D on 6G and its data transmission speed is expected to reach up to 100 times more than the 5G network.
